Are you getting bored of the same old date night ideas at home? Are you tired of your date nights consisting of ordering a pizza and watching Netflix? If so, then here are some great ‘at home date night ideas’ .
My fiancé and I have been together for 5 year, and we always made it a weekly tradition to plan at least one fun date night activity per week. We found this extremely important to keep doing, especially when we moved in together and both got 9-5 jobs. Life can be so busy, that it is important to remember to spend quality time together and to have some fun. 🙂
Here are some FUN ‘At-Home Date Night’ ideas for you and your significant other:
- HAVE A PICNIC
Having a picnic in your backyard can definitely check off a lot of boxes on your ‘date night checklist’. First of all you don’t have to leave the house, you don’t necessarily have to dress up (unless you want to), and you get to eat! So pack your favourite snacks, a blanket and some drinks and enjoy an evening outside together.
2. CREATE YOUR OWN BEER/ WINE TOUR
If either of you are a wine or beer lover, creating your own wine and beer tasting tour is a great chance to try some new drinks and relax. Grab a few bottles of wine / beer that you have always wanted to try, and pour them into small glasses, then compare the flavours. You can even print out the tasting notes and flavours of each wine and beer to read as you taste. if you really want to go the extra mile.
3. COOK A MEAL TOGETHER
Instead of going out for dinner, a good alternative option is to cook a meal together at home. Sometimes making dinner can be a stressful. But if you both choose a recipe together, get the groceries together and then spend the night making dinner in the kitchen together- it can make dinner less stressful and a lot more enjoyable.
4. SPA NIGHT
What better way to relax and spend time with your significant other than to have an at home spa night. Light some candles, put on a face mask and put your feet up and relax. Maybe even pour yourself a glass of wine or champagne- they do offer champagne at some spas… right? 🙂
5. DIY CRAFT NIGHT
Even though you may not be able to go to a paint night, doesn’t mean you can’t be creative at home. If you’re in the mood to get create, a great idea is to pick a craft that both you and significant other want to create. Then go to Michaels or your nearest craft store to pick up the supplies and get crafty!
Fun Tip- Start making it a routine to make a DIY craft at least once a season; example Fall, Christmas, Spring and Summer. This way you not only get to spend time together being creative but then you will also get two new decorations out of it as well.
6. GAME NIGHT
I am a sucker for a good game night. Gather your favourite board games and have a night of playing some classic board games. Nothing like a little friendly competition.
Fun Tip-If you want to raise the stakes, each of you can pick your favourite game to play & put a bet on the line. For example ‘the losing player has to make the person dinner the next night.’
7. VIRTUAL WORKOUT
Maybe you spent all day watching TV, and instead you want to get moving. Challenge your significant other to join you in a virtual workout.
8. HAVE A BAKE OFF
If you like baking, this is a great way to put your creativity to the test as well as your baking skills to the test. Both of you can pick your favourite dessert or baked good to make, and then enjoy them together and vote on the best one! Even if they don’t turn out like a picture perfect Pinterest baked good, (wow say that 5 times fast… lol) that is totally okay, at least you got some tasty baked goods out of it.
9. BREAKFAST IN BED
Date night doesn’t necessarily have to be in the evening. Make your favourite breakfast foods, pour yourself a mimosa, get cozy and enjoy breakfast in bed.
10. WATCH A CONCERT AT HOME
If you’re like me, you love going to concerts and not being able to attend a concert this year has you feeling like you are really missing out. Find an artist that you both want to watch, and then dance and sing your hearts out.
11. CREATE YOUR OWN SUNDAES
Choose your favourite ice cream and some fun toppings and syrups and make a sundae at home.
Extra Fun Tip:
These are all fun and easy date night ideas, if you are feeling really adventurous, and want to be fully indulged in each others company. At the beginning of your date night: put both of your cell phones in a container and make a pact that neither of you are allowed to touch your phones until your date night is over. If one of you touches your phone, then the other person has to pick the next date night idea or maybe cook the other person dinner! 🙂
I hope these tips will help make planning your next ‘At-Home Date Night’ a little bit easier and a lot more fun!
